The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, was received by His Excellency Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, the President of the Republic of Mali, at Koulouba yesterday, 22 April.

Mr. Hamdi assured the President of the Republic of the full support of MINUSMA for the efforts undertaken by the President to move forward and sign the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali. “We would like the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali to be credible and inclusive, and, in this regard, we continue to undertake efforts to ensure that all stakeholders adhere fully to the agreement and its objectives,” he explained.

“We remain hopeful and convinced that the Algiers process will be successful and that all the Malian parties concerned will sign the Agreement on 15 May, because peace is the only logical choice,” Mr. Hamdi said after the meeting, recognizing that the signature of an agreement is only the first step on a long road towards peace, security, reconciliation and development, requiring the continuation of the dialogue.
