MINES: MINUSMA CIVILIAN PERSONNEL DIED NEAR TIMBUKTU

A MINUSMA vehicle hit a mine or an explosive device around noon today in Timbuktu region, resulting in the death of a member of the Mission's civilian personnel.

 

The incident occurred approximately 25 kilometres west of Timbuktu on the road to Goundam. The vehicle was part of a MINUSMA logistics convoy.

 

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, is outraged by this tragic incident and presents its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the victim.

 

"MINUSMA will not be intimidated by such attacks and remains committed to supporting the people and the Government of Mali in their efforts to bring lasting peace to the country, » he said.
