  • 16 Dec 2022 - Bamako, December 16, 2022 - Today, unidentified armed men opened fire on a United Nations Police (UNPOL) patrol in Timbuktu town. The attack left two Peacekeepers’ dead, including a woman. Four other peacekeepers were injured, one of them seriously. They are currently receiving appropriate care at the MINUSMA military hospital in Timbuktu.
  • 14 Dec 2022 - 329 Bangladeshi Peacekeepers and 49 MINUSMA Police Officers received the United Nations Medal on 28 and 30 November in Goundam (Timbuktu region) and Bamako respectively.
  • 27 Oct 2022 - Members of the Cambodian civil engineering company serving with MINUSMA in Kidal were awarded the United Nations medal of honor on October 7, 2022. The 150 peacekeepers in this company are part of the eight detachments of the Cambodian contingent. They have been deployed in Kidal, with an outpost unit in Tessalit, since October 2021.
  • 18 Oct 2022 - The Secretary-General strongly condemns yesterday’s attack by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) against a patrol of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Tessalit, Kidal region, which resulted in the death of four Chadian peacekeepers. 
  • 18 Oct 2022 - The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack perpetrated against the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on 17 October near Tessalit through an explosive device, following which three peacekeepers from Chad were killed and three wounded. 
  • 17 Oct 2022 - Bamako, 17 October 2022 – MINUSMA is outraged by two separate IED attacks in Tessalit (Kidal region). Three MINUSMA peacekeepers killed and three others seriously injured this morning during a convoy operation.  A few hours later, a second attack in the same area had no casualties.
  • 14 Oct 2022 - On 7 October 2022 in Gao, Northern Mali, 525 peacekeepers of the 5th detachment of the Egyptian contingent were awarded the United Nations medal in recognition of the utmost dedication, professionalism and commitment shown in the performance of their duties.

  • 22 Sep 2022 - A Long Range Reconnaissance Group (LRRG) from the United Kingdom deployed on patrol in the north of Mali to protect civilians were warmly welcomed by the local population and ended up celebrating with them one of the most important festivities of the Muslim calendar.
  • 21 Sep 2022 - Poupla Paul YOUL is an intelligence executive at the Research and Information Processing Center of the National Gendarmerie of Burkina Faso (CRTI/GN). The purpose of his mission was to collect general information, to exploit it and propose new actions to his chain of command. Now with MINUSMA since October 2021 in the Gao region, he has a new purpose, he and his colleagues have been conducting security patrols to protect and reassure communities.
