Innocent civilians fell victim to an attack this morning in Gao

Bamako, April 5, 2015 - Around 6:00 this morning, at least three rockets were fired on the city of Gao. Preliminary reports indicate that one of the rockets hit a house, killing a women and injuring two civilians. They are currently being treated in the hospital of Gao. 

 

A MINUSMA team immediately went there and assisted the Malian authorities with their investigation. MINUSMA Police Forces have also enhanced their presence and number of patrols in the town of Gao and its surroundings.

 

MINUSMA strongly condemns this terrorist attack on innocent civilians. MINUSMA will make every effort to ensure that such acts will be ceased and that those involved will be brought to justice. 

 

MINUSMA remains committed in its support for the stabilization of Mali.
