Three MINUSMA Peacekeepers Injured in Mine Explosion

A MINUSMA convoy struck a mine on the road between Teherdge and Timbuktu at around 1 p.m. today.

Three peacekeepers were injured in the explosion. MINUSMA is evacuating them to receive appropriate medical care.

MINUSMA strongly condemns this terrorist act, which aims to paralyze the Mission’s operations in this part of Mali. Mines in Mali affect both the personnel of the United Nations and innocent civilians, without distinction.

Through the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), MINUSMA continues to identify, clear and mark the principal mined areas in Mali to provide maximum protection to civilian populations against their deadly impact.
