MINUSMA Apprehends Three Suspects in Aguelhok

Following the discovery of mines, MINUSMA’s Force apprehended three individuals in Aguelhok on Monday, 20 April 2015.

All three are suspected of having prepared an attack with an explosive device.

In line with the United Nations procedures in this regard, MINUSMA will turn the three persons over to the competent national authorities today, towards the end of the day.

In Mali, explosive remnants of war, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and land mines affect the freedom of movement of the population, economic activities, as well as the deployment of national and international forces and the restoration of state authority.

Since 2013, more than 325 civilians, personnel of the Malian security forces and MINUSMA have been injured or killed as a result of mine explosions in Mali.
