The Secretary-General condemns this morning’s Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack against a MINUSMA convoy en route between Douentza and Boni, in the Mopti region.
At the 8501st meeting of the Security Council, held on 3 April 2019, in connection with the Council’s consideration of the item entitled “The situation in Mali”, the President of the Security Council made the following statement on behalf of the Council:
The Secretary-General is shocked and outraged by reports that at least 134 civilians, including women and children, have been killed and at least 55 have been injured following an attack this morning on Ogossagou Peulh village, Mopti region, in central Mali.
The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack perpetrated on 25 January 2019 against a convoy of MINUSMA near Douentza (region of Mopti), which resulted in 2 peacekeepers from Sri Lanka k

The members of the Security Council were briefed on 16 January 2019 by the Assistant Secretary-General for Africa, Bintou Keita, on the situation in Mali.
