MINUSMA today expressed its outrage at the extreme violence in the north of Mali that has killed dozens of people and injured many others during the past few days.

In this context of intensified inter-communal tensions, MINUSMA calls for an immediate stop to the clashes and a return to calm.

In cooperation with other partners and the Government of Mali, MINUSMA is very closely following developments and continues to take concrete measures to facilitate a quick return to stability.

No crime must go unpunished.  Those responsible for such acts must be brought to justice.  To this effect, and in line with its mandate, MINUSMA will deploy an investigation team during the coming days to establish the facts of these extremely serious events.
