Following the discovery of mines, MINUSMA’s Force apprehended three individuals in Aguelhok on Monday, 20 April 2015.
All three are suspected of having prepared an attack with an explosive device.
Today, at around 11:30 a.m., a convoy of civilian MINUSMA contractors was once again attacked by assailants 30 kilometers west of Gao.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least one driver was assassinated and that his truck was burned afterwards.
Yesterday evening around 7 pm., a convoy of MINUSMA contractors was attacked by two assailants 15 kilometers west of Gao.
The assailants stopped the convoy and immediately killed the two drivers and subsequently set the trucks on fire.
At around 11:30 a.m. today, a suicide vehicle exploded at the entrance to the MINUSMA camp in Ansongo, in the Gao region, as it tried to enter.
The attack injured nine peacekeepers from the contingent of Niger, two of them seriously.
The members of the Security Council heard a briefing on Mali by the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr Hervé Ladsous, on 9 April 2015.
Bamako, April 7, 2015 – Yesterday, Monday late afternoon, a MINUSMA vehicle hit a mine about 30 km from Kidal on the way towards Gao. The vehicle was escorting a convoy of contractors.
Bamako, April 5, 2015 - Around 6:00 this morning, at least three rockets were fired on the city of Gao. Preliminary reports indicate that one of the rockets hit a house, killing a women and injuring two civilians. They are currently being treated in the hospital of Gao.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of MINUSMA Mr. Mongi Hamdi, is deeply saddened by the killing of an employee of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Gao region. During the attack another ICRC employee got injured.
