  • 21 Sep 2022 - Poupla Paul YOUL is an intelligence executive at the Research and Information Processing Center of the National Gendarmerie of Burkina Faso (CRTI/GN). The purpose of his mission was to collect general information, to exploit it and propose new actions to his chain of command. Now with MINUSMA since October 2021 in the Gao region, he has a new purpose, he and his colleagues have been conducting security patrols to protect and reassure communities.
  • 21 Sep 2022 - Chief Warrant Officer Jeanne d'Arc KOHOU is a regular at UN peace operations. Her first mission was to Haiti, from 2011 to 2013, where she oversaw gender issues in a police station within the capital, Port-au-Prince. Her dynamism in the care of victims of gender-based violence (GBV) and the follow-up of cases, earned her to be recalled from 2014 to 2016.
  • 14 Sep 2022 - A united Nations peace medal ceremony for elements of the8th detachment of the Cambodian Explosive Ordnance Disposal Contingent (EOD Team) took place on 10 September 2022 at the MINUSMA camp in Gao. Intended to salute the bravery of the peacekeepers, these decorations were awarded by Brigadier General Stefan Jan ANDERSSON, Commander of the MINUSMA Force in the region and the Head of the Regional Office of the UN Mission, Mohamed El-Amine SOUEF.
  • 13 Sep 2022 - It was a warm summer night in Gao, Northern Mali, when people suddenly woke up to the cries of women, men and children. A coordinated attack by terrorist groups on 18 June cost the lives of dozens of civilians in remote villages and led thousands to leave their belongings and flee for safety to the neighbouring town of Djebock.
  • 13 Sep 2022 - After spending 20 months on Malian soil, elements of the formed police unit of the Federal Republic of Nigeria deployed to the United Nations Police (UNPOL/MINUSMA) in Timbuktu, are returning home. A total of 70 of them boarded an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing on September 8.
