  • 09 Dec 2023 - Bamako, December 8, 2023 - MINUSMA today closed its camp in Sevare, Mopti region, marking the end of its presence in the central regions of Mali. The closure, which follows the closure of the Ogossagou and Douentza bases, also in central Mali, is part of the second phase of the Mission's drawdown. The last remaining Mission personnel, both civilian and military, left the Sevare camp this afternoon.
  • 23 Nov 2023 - As part of MINUSMA's withdrawal process, its regional office in Mopti handed over to the civilian authorities on 22 November 2023, the MINUSMA regional office in Mopti handed over its annex bases of the Office des Produits Agricoles du Mali (OPAM) and the Office du Riz to the civilian authorities.   • 18 Nov 2023 - Bamako, 18 November 2023 - After ten years of operation, MINUSMA has officially closed its base in Ansongo. This closure represents the ninth of twelve mission camps to cease operations, as part of the second phase of MINUSMA’s withdrawal plan, paving the way for its final departure on December 31, 2023.
  • 10 Nov 2023 - On 31 October 2023, the MINUSMA peacekeepers in Kidal, northern Mali, embarked on a final mission that was exceptional in every respect.
  • 31 Oct 2023 - Bamako, October 31, 2023 - MINUSMA ended its presence in the Kidal region today, following the departure of its last personnel by air and land convoy. The last convoy of peacekeepers left Kidal by road this morning for Gao, and unfortunately suffered two IED attacks on the way, causing material damage.
  • 23 Oct 2023 - The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) completed its accelerated withdrawal of all troops and civilian personnel from its base in Tessalit on 21 October 2023. However, the mission is still concerned for the safety of a land convoy heading to Gao, a journey of over 550 kilometers.

The issue of safe ammunition management is central to the drawdown of troops. Ammunition that cannot be returned to the original contingents must be carefully disposed of.
