  • 01 Feb 2018 - Bamako – 1st February 2018 MINUSMA and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) released a joint public report today on human rights and the peace process in Mali, the product of monitoring and analysis conducted during the interim period of the Peace Agreement. Despite the signature of the Peace Agreement, the report finds that the human rights situation remains of concern.
  • 20 Nov 2017 - Industrialization is a primary driver of economic growth and job creation, and will be pivotal in efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Africa Union’s Agenda 2063.   This year’s Africa Industrialization Day highlights the links between industrial development and Africa’s moves towards establishing a Continental Free Trade Area.
  • 02 Nov 2017 - In just the past few weeks, a renowned investigative journalist was murdered by a bomb that booby-trapped her car; another was dismembered in the course of researching her story; and a photojournalist was found dead after being forced to leave his home at gunpoint. From 2006 to 2016, 930 journalists and media workers were killed.  Thousands of others routinely face sexual harassment, intimidation, detention and ill treatment.

    The Secretary-General condemns today’s attack against a convoy of the United Nations Multidimensional lntegrated Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), in the Gao region, killing three Bangladeshi peacekeepers and seriously injuring five others.
     
    The Secretary-General conveys his condolences to the Government of Bangladesh and to the bereaved families. He wishes swift recovery to the injured.
     
  • 15 Aug 2017 - The Secretary-General condemns the attacks against camps of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Douenza and Timbuktu, in Mali. A UN peacekeeper, a Malian soldier and a member of the Malian gendarmerie were killed as were six Malian contractors. A number of others were wounded.
  • 09 Aug 2017 -   UNITED NATIONS, 8 August 2017 – Ten years after the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, progress has been made in terms of the formal recognition of indigenous peoples in several countries, but indigenous peoples overwhelmingly continue to face discrimination, marginalization and major challenges in enjoying their basic rights.

  • 20 Jun 2017 - The Secretary-General condemns the terrorist attack carried out at a hotel in the outskirts of Bamako on 18 June. The Secretary-General expresses his condolences to the bereaved and the families of the victims as well as to the people and Government of Mali and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.
  • 05 May 2017 - The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack against the camp of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Timbuktu, Mali, on 3 May 2017, which caused the death of a Liberian peacekeeper and injured others and which was claimed by Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims).
  • 18 Jan 2017 - Bamako, January 18, 2017 – Today, shortly before 9am, A suicide vehicle exploded inside the camp of the MOC (Mécanisme Opérationnel de Coordination) in Gao. The camp hosts elements of the Malian Armed Forces and members of the Platform and Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) who are to take part in mixed patrols, as envisaged by the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali.
