  • 24 Dec 2015 - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Mahamat Saleh Annadif of Chad as his Special Representative for Mali and Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).   Mr. Annadif succeeds Mongi Hamdi of Tunisia, who will complete his assignment on 14 January 2016. The Secretary-General is grateful for Mr. Hamdi’s dedicated service and effective leadership at the helm of MINUSMA.  
  • 10 Dec 2015 - Abidjan, 10 December 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Mali and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, was received today by Ivory Coast President, His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara.   The meeting was an opportunity for both to discuss current issues facing Africa, particularly West Africa, and the efforts made by the international community to support peacebuilding, stability and development in this part of Africa.  
  • 28 Nov 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Mali and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, is afflicted by the death of two peacekeepers and one MINUSMA contractor in a mortar attack against the U.N. camp in Kidal around 4:00 a.m. today; 20 others were wounded in the attack, including four seriously. MINUSMA is conducting medical evacuations while strengthening its security apparatus.  
  • 28 Nov 2015 - A MINUSMA vehicle hit a mine or an explosive device around noon today in Timbuktu region, resulting in the death of a member of the Mission's civilian personnel.   The incident occurred approximately 25 kilometres west of Timbuktu on the road to Goundam. The vehicle was part of a MINUSMA logistics convoy.  
  • 23 Nov 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Mali (SRSG) and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, commends the professionalism of the Malian Defense and Security Forces (MDSF), in the aftermath of the terrorist attack against a Bamako hotel on 20 November 2015, and expresses his gratitude to countries having provided support during the crisis.  
  • 23 Nov 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Mali (SRSG) and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack against a Bamako hotel during which an unknown number of civilians were killed and wounded.   Mr. Hamdi expresses his solidarity with the Government of Mali and its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured in this heinous attack.  
  • 27 Oct 2015 - The Government of Mali and the OECD have organised together a high-level international conference for the economic recovery and development of Mali, in co-operation with France and other friends and partners of Mali. This conference took place within the context of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement signed in May-June 2015 following from the mediation process led by Algeria, with the support of the international community.  
  • 01 Oct 2015 - 1. On 1 October 2015, the United Nations convened on the margins of the Genera lDebate of the 70th session of the General Assembly a Ministerial Consultative Meeting on the Malian Peace Process and the Implementation of the Agreement on Peace and Reconciliationin Mali. The meeting was opened by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Jan Eliasson, and co-chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Algeria, Mr.
  • 03 Sep 2015 - MINUSMA condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack against a checkpoint of the Malian army that took place on 1 September on the road to Taoudéni, in Timbuktu region, killing two members of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) and wounding one. MINUSMA extends its condolences to the families of the victims, to the Government of Mali, as well as to the FAMa, and wishes a speedy recovery to the soldier who was injured.
  • 31 Aug 2015 - Within the framework of his regular consultations with the Government, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, met with Mr. Modibo Keïta, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali, at the “Primature” today. During this meeting, they discussed the latest developments and the security situation in the north of the country.
