  • 08 May 2015 - Faced with the escalation of tensions during the past two weeks in the north of Mali in the Timbuktu region (Ber, Léré, Diré), the Gao region (Ménaka) and the Mopti region (Tenenkou), MINUSMA has intensified its efforts to ensure the protection of civilians.  
  • 07 May 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, accompanied by the Ambassador of Algeria, who leads the International Mediation in the inter-Malian talks, the Ambassador of France, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States in Mali and representatives of the African Union and ECOWAS were received by the President of the Republic of Mali, H.E. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, yesterday.  
  • 06 May 2015 - The MINUSMA camp in Kidal was targeted by mortar fire at around 4:45 a.m. today. In total, six to eight mortar shells were fired. The attack, which lasted about 20 minutes, did not cause any casualties or material damage.   At around 6:30 a.m., a civilian vehicle struck an improvised explosive device or mine 1 km north of the MINUSMA camp. Two civilians were injured.  
  • 03 May 2015 - A meeting of the Commission Technique Mixte de Sécurité (CTMS), chaired by MINUSMA, took place in Gao yesterday with representatives of the Government, the Plateforme and the Coordination.   The findings of the Equipe Mixte d’Observation et de Vérification (EMOV), which is responsible for verifying the facts on the ground and reporting to the CTMS, were presented during this meeting.   Two missions, to Ménaka and Timbuktu, were conducted on 29 April.  
  • 01 May 2015 - A meeting of the “Core Group” of the International Mediation* took place at the MINUSMA headquarters in Bamako yesterday with the participation of France and the United States to discuss the worrying security situation in the north of Mali.   The participants considered that, in light of the rapid deterioration of the security situation on the ground, it was essential to continue to give priority to the path of dialogue within the framework of the ongoing peace process.
  • 30 Apr 2015 -   The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Mali, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities in several locations in the north of Mali.   The SRSG is extremely concerned about the serious violations of the ceasefire taking place in Mali, at a crucial moment in the peace process.  
  • 28 Apr 2015 - In light of the dangerous developments on the ground in Ménaka yesterday and in Timbuktu today, the SRSG and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Mongi Hamdi, expresses his great concern regarding the peace process that was begun more than a year ago to resolve the Malian security crisis in a lasting and peaceful way.  
  • 28 Apr 2015 - At around noon today, MINUSMA was informed about an attack conducted by GATIA and MAA-Plateforme on the town of Ménaka, held by elements of the Coordination des Mouvements de l’Azawad (CMA).   Shots were heard and MINUSMA deployed helicopters to assess the situation.  
  • 24 Apr 2015 - The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by a series of attacks directed against the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and MINUSMA contractors that have killed five civilians and injured 13 civilians and 16 United Nations peacekeepers since last week.
  • 24 Apr 2015 - At around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a MINUSMA vehicle hit a mine in the vicinity of Anefis, Kidal region, while escorting a convoy of subcontractors of the Mission.   Seven peacekeepers were injured in the explosion, six of them seriously. All of them were immediately evacuated to receive appropriate medical care and MINUSMA forces secured the site.
