20 Jan 2015 - This afternoon, MINUSMA was constrained to use force in order to protect UN-soldiers based in Tabankort, around 200 km north of Gao. Confronted with shootings from heavy weapons in their direction, MINUSMA Peacekeepers were under imminent threat.
This reaction by MINUSMA forces is supported by the mission’s mandate, which authorizes the use of force to protect civilians, UN-staff and UN-premises in case of an attack or an imminent threat.
14 Sep 2014 - 14 September - The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack on a military vehicle in the vicinity of Aguelok, Mali, on 14 September 2014, in which one Chadian peacekeeper of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was killed and four other peacekeepers were injured.
13 Sep 2014 - Algiers, 13 September 2014 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of MINUSMA, Mr. Albert Koenders, is encouraged by the constructive discussions and recommendationsmade by the civil society and community representatives, in Algiers, during the second phase of the negotiations between the government of Mali and the armed movements.
23 May 2014 - The SRSG accompanied the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and current chairman of the African Union, H.E.M Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, during his visit to Kidal. Transportation was provided by MINUSMA.
During the visit, they held discussions with the armed movements and the aménokal.
17 Feb 2014 - The Malian government and Malian armed groups have today continued informal discussions on the preparation for a future process of Cantonment. This follows a seminar on Cantonments that was facilitated at the beginning of last week by MINUSMA, and was attended by the international community.
MINUSMA acknowledges the amount of support there is towards this commitment, and will continue to facilitate consultations until a formal agreement is achieved between all concerned parties.
14 Feb 2014 - The Government, Malian armed groups, social and civil experts, and the international community have met to tackle diverse topics since this Thursday in Bamako.During workshops held on Thursday, the involved parties drew lessons from past peace agreements and expressed a keen desire to move forward towards an inclusive dialogue.
28 Jan 2014 - As part of the regular consultations between MINUSMA and the Malian authorities, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of MINUSMA, Mr. Albert Koenders, yesterday met with the President of Mali, His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta.
During this meeting, they discussed preparations for inclusive national dialogue, the security situation and progress in the deployment of MINUSMA's troops in Mali.
16 Dec 2013 - Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Chief of MINUSMA, Albert Koenders, congratulates the Government and the people of Mali for the proper conduct of the second round of parliamentary elections, in which no major incident occurred.
29 Nov 2013 - MINUSMA strongly condemns the violence that took place yesterday in Kidal prior to the scheduled arrival of the Prime Minister and a Government delegation.
The Mission deplores the fact that, despite a security plan coordinated by the Malian Government on Wednesday in cooperation with MINUSMA and supported by Serval, incidents of a serious nature took place.
MINUSMA, in close cooperation with Serval, assisted the evacuation of three of the injured for medical care in Gao.
